News to us

Dalton asked to try on my wedding ring. I let him and asked him if he knew what it meant. He didn't and I told him that it meant that Boyd and I love each other very much and are married. "What! Dad's not married!" Hmmm, I'm pretty sure he is. There was no convincing him that his dad is married.

Curious of the answer, I asked if I was married. And he said yes. So I am married, but Boyd is not? Right. Well, who am I married to?

Knows how to work me

Dalton just walked over and gave me an unsolicited kiss. I wowed at how special that was. His response, "Well, can I watch another Wubzy?" Definitely knows how to work me.

Growing Girl

Maggie Anne enjoyed her dad's birthday gumbo. Now each time she get a new "real food" (as Dalton refers to it) she eyes us down as if we've been holding out on her.

Ace of Cakes we are not!

Dalton plays a game on my phone that uses a tiered cake to show your progress in the game. So when I asked what kind of cake he wanted to make for his dad's birthday, he of course wanted a 5-tiered cake. Since that wasn't going to happen, he gave the ok for 2 tiers - one chocolate, one strawberry. Our red and white decorating icing turned out a little runnier that we expected so they kinda look like they melted. We knew it had to be a Tech football theme and we had a great time regardless of how it turned out. :-)

Happy Birthday Boyd!!! We love you!!!

New rule

On the ride home tonight, Dalton made a new rule.

"I get 5 chances when I'm being bossy."

Boyd says, "I don't think that's a very good system."

Dalton responds, "I do think it's a very good system."

Close Call

After eating dinner with some of my work friends, Dalton was outside with me and Maggie Anne getting to blow off some steam. All of a sudden he runs up to the crepe myrtle outside the restaurant and exclaims, "I'm gonna pee on this tree!" Amongst the laughs from those waiting, I'm scrambling with my no, no, nos. I rush him back inside where we meet a manager who says, "Right around the corner." Guess he'd seen the look before. :-)

Priceless!

My boys just returned from the grocery store. I got the report that every mom loves to get - Dalton got an A++ for his behavior at the store. Boyd was reporting that Dalton even helped him find stuff. Dalton said, "Mom, do you know what I helped dad find? The foot chicken!" The foot chicken? (those of you that know Boyd, know that I would not be surprised with anything brought home from the grocery store) Boyd came in just in time to explain that it was actually chicken LEGS that Dalton helped him find. Close enough, I guess. :-)

Tuesday Morning Humor

At 5:15 a.m., Maggie Anne cried and woke up Dalton who crawled into our bed. Boyd took the baby a bottle.

At 6:00 a.m., Maggie Anne cried again. I wondered why and Boyd guessed that she must have finished her bottle because she didn't smell dirty. Dalton replied groggily "Well, maybe a little."

We chuckle and Boyd tells Dalton, "You're a funny kid."

Dalton's response: "Yeah, I know."

Drama King

I am not being exaggerating this reaction from Dalton in the car this morning when the sun can through the window into his face.

"Make it stop! Make it stop! Mr. Sun, please stop shining on me! Mr. Sun, you are so bright! Mr. Sun, you are so hot! Please stop shining on me!"

It had all the drama of Shakespeare. We made a turn and all was well.

Little Worries

Boyd: Dalton, I'm happy that I get to start my new job tomorrow.

Dalton (after a significant pause): So, it's just going to be me, mom and Maggie Anne now?

Boyd: No, no. My job is here. It's just in a different building. I'll actually get to see you more.

Dalton: Oh, good because I love you.

Random Pictures

Just some of those random moments you manage to catch on film.

I came home to this the other night.

And then found this.

Chocolate cake anyone?

Isn't she lovely?

Just Like That

Yesterday was the day that Maggie Anne decided she was going to walk. She had been taking a few steps here and there, but she was toddling all over the place last night. Can't believe she is growing up so fast!
