Boyd and Dalton are searching for green stars in Mario Galaxy 2. Boyd was commenting that they had 98 stars and wondered what happened when they got to 100. Dalton said, "We just have to get two more to find out." We commented that we were really proud of that math. He responded, "Yeah, I'm pretty smart!"
Dalton was asking us to make some eggs. We were asking how he wanted them and he said he wanted the ones with the H on them. Now we have had Highland eggs before with a little H on them, but we had no idea why he would want those specifically. He then told us that he wanted the ones like at Honey's house. We still couldn't figure it out. He told us the ones that you use a marker to write an H on. We figured it out then. Honey marks her hard-boiled eggs with an H and puts them back in the bucket with the raw eggs. He wanted hardboiled eggs and could only remember that the ones he had eaten last had that H on them.

I should probably call mom (Ree) to tell her this, but I know she checks the blog so it will be a fun surprise for her.

Maggie Anne is not really big on sitting still to read books. Boyd had gotten her to sit down with him and she was actually "reading" her favorite book to him. It was so cute that I had snuck in there to watch. When MA noticed me, she got distracted. I felt terrible for interrupting their moment and squealed at them to "Read! Read! Read!" while running to the kitchen. Well, MA thought I was saying "Ree! Ree! Ree!" and came running into the kitchen shrieking that herself. She just looked at us like we were idiots when we were trying to explain that her Ree was not here.

She didn't cry, but she did put on her pouty face long enough for us to snuggle and tell her we were sorry. She turned her pretty little eyes up and said, "Wow Wow?" (Wow Wow Wubbzy is her favorite show in the world) That was how we could make it up to her. Sweet little girl loves her Ree.
We always let Dalton play in the bath and ask him every few minutes if he is ready to get clean. Boyd was doing the asking tonight and this last time Boyd asked, Dalton responded that he was getting mad at Boyd because he was nagging him. I was rolling and Boyd had to admit that he couldn't really be mad at him for saying that because nagging is Boyd's biggest annoyance. I'm still laughing and probably will until Dalton quotes one of my mantras back to me.
Dalton has scratched his willie while in the bath. In all his moaning and groaning, he just announced that the top of his lungs, "I'M GONNA DIE!!!!"

Sweetest Boy in the Whole Wide World

Since I'll be gone a couple of days, Dalton and I have been hanging out for some extra Mom & D time. Last night I was teasing him and asked that since I would be gone for a while, could I take his DS with me. He thought about it and then said sure that I could take it with me. I told him he is the sweetest thing ever and that I wouldn't take his DS. Thought we were done with the topic, but when we got in my car after school, he told me again that I could take his DS on my trip with me. I sure hope he can keep his sweet heart as he keeps growing.
Upon discovering that Dalton had caused devastation in the bath, he told Dalton to start picking up the toys. Dalton of course said he didn't know how - his first line of defense these days. Boyd told him to act like he has good sense and try. Dalton responded, "But I DON'T have good sense!" We couldn't hold it together. :-)

There is not a happier boy on the planet right now (and a happy mom). He grew 2 inches and gained 4 pounds at his checkup, but the important this is NO SHOTS! That was enough to get a happy dance.

Going to Jail

Boyd was in the drive thru line at Chick-Fil-A tonight before church when Maggie Anne dropped her cup. Boyd hopped out and ran around to the other side to retrieve the cup. Dalton was extremely upset and told him that he was going to go to jail for doing that. Boyd explained that he was not on a road and hadn't done anything wrong. Dalton was adamant that they were on a street and Boyd had broken the law and that he was going to go to jail.
Dalton was acting out a little (ok, a lot) on the way home tonight. Amongst other rants, he threatened to throw his lemonade on the floor. He was upset because I would not reach back there and get it while driving on the interstate. For some reason totally unknown to me, he kept refusing to just sit the cup in his cup holder. Anyway, I told him that he would be in a lot of trouble if he threw it on the floor. He did hold onto it (never gave in and put it in the cup holder) until we got to our exit and it was safer for me to reach and get it. He was really quiet for a couple of blocks and then told me said, "Mom, I'm sorry I had a bad attitude." I told him what a big boy thing that was to say.

He's growing up way too fast.

The Red Button

When asked we have always told Dalton that the car's flashers are for emergencies when you have to go really fast. Well, he has interpreted that the flashers are like super boosters that make the car go faster. On our way home from church tonight, I was driving a little slower because of the fog we've had all day. Cars were passing us and Dalton was encouraging (demanding) me to speed up. A particularly fast truck passed us and Dalton said, "They must have pushed their red button!"

Any time we repeat a meal, Dalton has started telling me about the last time we ate it. I haven't been that impressed until last night when we had little tacos which we haven't had for many months - maybe even a year. He told me that we had watched Madagascar (the first one) and he was allowed to eat in the living room the last time we had them. Then he told me the exact plate that he ate on. Wish I still had that kind of memory.

When we told Dalton that it was suppose to snow, he asked if we had to put our Christmas stuff back up.

Self-Coaching

So there was a bath accident last night and both kids had to be herded to my shower. Dalton has always been terrified of the shower and threw fits about it. Maggie Anne loves to play in them. When she went on in, Dalton did too. They had fun playing and I ended up drenched leaning in to clean them. I was dreading washing Dalton's hair because rinsing it is usually where he flips out. Well, the time came to rinse his hair and he took a couple of deep breaths. As he stuck his head under the shower he kept saying, "You can do this Dalton. Be brave Dalton. You can do this." We almost could not keep from laughing. He was very proud that he made it through it.

Driving too fast?

We were going to pick up Boyd from his office yesterday and Dalton said that it was raining. It was not, in fact, raining and I told him so. He insisted that it was and I asked him where were the raindrops on my window. He said that it was raining, but that we were driving too fast for the rain to hit our car. I don't go that fast.

More Fun with the Box . . .
